If You Feel Threatened ...

Naturally, it is preferable for all parties to remain at the scene of the accident with their cars in the same positions until police and emergency services arrive. However, there are times when this just isn't feasible. Accidents often occur in high-traffic locations in which it is unsafe to remain in the same spot or even on the same stretch of roadway. Not to mention, in a high-stress situation such as this, other motorists can become angry and irate, and you may feel physically threatened.

If either of these is the case, you may have no choice but to relocate to a safe place. If you can pull over to a less congested area, do so. If you're dealing with an irate motorist, flag down assistance, return to your car with the windows rolled up and the doors locked, and politely inform the other driver that you will meet with them at the nearest police station.

If you have already called for assistance, be sure to call police, loved ones and the Los Angeles auto body repair company who will be towing your car, to let them know you're moving to a safer location. Before leaving the scene, you should make every effort to get as much information as possible about the other driver. Jot down a license plate number, description of the vehicle and the driver, and note the location and position of the cars as precisely as possible. Take a few photos if there's time.
